Chan Hong Yui Clement (b. 1992, Hong Kong) is an image‑maker whose practice explores the plasticity of photography, primarily informed by the medium’s formal and conceptual qualities, including light, surface, spontaneity, indexicality, depiction, and representation. Often portraying diverse subject matter in ways that defy easy categorization, Chan incorporates elements from a wide range of styles and methodologies, including snapshot aesthetics, documentary style, appropriation, digital manipulation, and lens‑based experimentation.

About Chan’s Work

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Chan received a BFA (2015) from the Savannah College of Art and Design, USA, and an MFA (2018) from the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. His work has been exhibited at venues including the Benaki Museum, Athens; Vermont Center for Photography, USA; Eureka Centre Ballarat, Australia; and Lumenvisum, Hong Kong. It has also been shown in numerous international photo festivals. He was a finalist for the Photolucida Critical Mass Award in 2015.
